The Apologetic Gospel Unleashed
A Presuppositional-Apologetic Rendition of the Knowledge of God
Led By Ryne Leake, senior BA Student at Moody Bible Institute
How is someone to proclaim the gospel to those who have doubts about its truth? This is the challenge addressed by apologetics. Traditionally, Christian methods that deal with this question have focused on arguments and evidences, an approach that is often called “classical” or “evidential apologetics.” While this has been an important aspect of Christian thinking, a method more frequently utilized by the writers of scripture is a simple, bold proclamation of the gospel. This class will explore the rationality behind their method, unpacking examples provided by characters in scripture who engaged in such a project. The intended result will be the practice of a “presuppositional apologetics,” i.e. a clear, biblically robust, evangelistic expression based on the truth of the Christian scriptures and message of the gospel.
The first five classes will explore a biblically informed path towards a sound knowledge of God, as well as its implications for apologetics in general. The final six classes will cover cases studies of biblical characters who utilized a presuppositional apologetic method, thereby drawing practical principles to apply to evangelism at home, school and work. Please bring a Bible, a notebook, a pencil or pen, and a readiness to learn from and with others.
