What is the 13 m&m’s Moms group? We started with the desire to encourage moms in their God-given roles as moms. It is a challenging role, no doubt - but with the support of others, it can be much more enjoyable. Whether you are a new mom, or a veteran, God has a purpose for you in this role and blessed you with the great opportunity to influence your children for Christ.
13 m&m’s meets on the first and third Monday of every month. This consistency helps you know in advance when the group will meet. The off weeks allow you to get together with other moms on your own time. Our meeting time is 9:30 a.m.–11:30 am, but really you can come as your schedule permits. We know there are nap times, cranky times, and other things that impact your day as a mom…so there is a lot of grace extended and you should come as you are able. The group strongly encourages you to place the needs of your family first.
The first Monday of the month is “Together-Time”. We do an activity with our children which promotes friendship, spiritual development, or creativity in our children.
The third Monday is “Mom-Time”. We have babysitters for our children and meet in a near by room to talk about a predetermined topic. This builds friendships and encourages us in Gods word with the issues we are facing. Currently we charge 5 dollars per mom, to help pay the sitters at this time. It is not mandatory to place your child with the sitter. Moms are more than welcome to keep their babies in Mom-time. Please keep in mind that it is Mom-time and other Moms may be needing a break from the demands of their children, even if it is only 1 hour.
The schedule of 13 m&m’s is planned 6 months at a time. This allows you to look ahead, and reach out to your friends. Also, different people in the group have the chance to lead the group. Each 6 months we ask for issues that you are dealing with, and then create a Mom-time topic schedule and Together-time schedule.
There are various team players in the moms group…. a Leader, Co-leader, Refreshment Coordinator, Host Coordinator, Promotional Assistant, Outreach Contact, Creative Memory Specialist, and Babysitter Coordinator. We always look out for places to plug in people with their gifts and talents.
One way we support each other is by prayer. For emergencies, we have established a prayer chain. This allows the group to pray together and support one another. This has been an amazing blessing and we have seen God’s handiwork.
We look forward to meeting you and your child! And to encourage each other in this amazing God-given role of Motherhood.
Please feel free to contact the coordinators with any questions, comments or concerns.
