Since our Learning Community teachers play such an important role, we take great care when enlisting them. Please read through the information below to better understand the role of a leader, qualifications, and expectations. If, after consideration, you are interested in pursuing Learning Community teaching leadership, please follow the instructions below to complete the leader application. Role of a Learning Community Teacher
Learning Community leaders are responsible for providing their groups with vision, direction, and support. Leaders are successful when they are personally growing in their intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders and are leading their groups in such a way as to encourage the group members' growth in these three relationships as well. Learning Community leaders are supported by the Learning Community Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ (for at least two years)
- Meet the biblical qualifications for deacon or elder leadership (1 Tim 3:1-12)
- Have Learning Community teaching experience (preferably)
- Be a member of First Free Church
- Have the time, emotional capacity, moral discernment, and spiritual gifts to lead a healthy Learning Community class
Expectations
- Lead the group by facilitating the group meeting, monitoring its health and duration, and promoting participation among group members
- Commit to engage in leadership development opportunities provided by the church
- Identify and develop a qualified apprentice and embrace apprentice leader development as a measure of success
- Encourge and/or inspire group participants to birth new small groups because of what they have learned in your Learning Community classes
- Directs class towards a caring response to those class members who experience a crisis (hospitalization, death of a loved one, etc.)
