Mom's Group
Mom's Group is First Free's Support Group for Moms

First Free Mom's Group
Moms' Group exists as a ministry of the First Free Evangelical Church of Chicago.  The vision of the group is to provide mothers of young children with multiple opportunities to connect with each other in a way that fits each mom and her family, all in a manner that embodies our call to care for each other as part of the body of Christ.  Though the emphasis is for church families, all are welcome to attend and be a part of the group.

Ways to Participate/Where You'll Find Us:

Bi-Monthly Mom’s Meetings
Come and join us from 9:30 – 11:30am the first and third Thursdays of each month (September – May).  The first Thursday is a “Together Time” with moms and their children in a simple format of free-play, circle time, snack, and activity.  The third Thursday is a “Moms’ Time” including breakfast for the Moms and time to pray, chat, and learn from a guest speaker on topics selected throughout the year.  LOCATION:  Multi-purpose room for “Moms’ Time” and in the church nursery for “Together Time.”

Quarterly Special Events
A way for working moms to stay connected; special events are scheduled quarterly four times a year to allow for broader participation.  Watch the bulletin, Facebook, and the Yahoo Groups List-serve for upcoming events.

Facebook Page
Check in to see other moms in the group and find information on news and upcoming events.  Details coming soon!

List Serve (Yahoo Groups)
A great forum for such things as passing along unwanted items/getting things you need, seeking parenting advice from those who are in the trenches with you or already been through it (whatever “it” happens to be at the moment!), and starting up impromptu gatherings, this list serve is a way to share what you know and find out about what you don’t!  To join, contact Erin Lim (lim.erin@gmail.com) or visit the church website www.firstfree.com.

New Mom’s Brunch
This twice yearly event is a time for those new to the church, with a new baby, or expecting a new baby.  You will be served through a shared meal, fellowship, and an introduction to what is going on in the ministry and how you can participate – not to mention this is a time for us to get to know you better too!

Meals Ministry
A chance to share your culinary skills with new moms or be on the receiving end of meals after having a new baby.  To sign up for meals, inform us of someone who would benefit from receiving meals, or volunteer to cook, contact Laura Studee (lstudee@gmail.com).   Occasionally we will announce a date to cook multiple meals together in order to stock the church freezer with some meals to have at the ready.

Meet Me At My Park
During the months of June, July, and August, there will be a schedule of gatherings at local Chicago parks, roughly from 10:00am – 12:00pm.  Moms get a chance to take turn “hosting” at their favorite area park, and children get to experience new places throughout the city.  Current schedule is printed and also listed as updates through the listserve.  Contact Nicole Foster (gnfoster@gmail.com) if you’d like to be on the list of “hosts” to select a park!

Moms’ Night Out
Scheduled informally by moms in the group, Moms’ Night Out offers a way for you to have an open invitation for an evening out with other mothers from the group.  These events are announced through Facebook and the List Serve.

Please feel free to contact the coordinator with any questions, comments or concerns.
